A still life of my house I live in

Photo of my parents houses. I live in the one on the right. Pic by me.

The following is a journal entry & continuation of an art piece I made at the end of last year for my end of year show. Please enjoy me pining within the history of my home.

The concept of home is very sacred to me. Imagining people who once occupied the spaces around you, especially if those are people have loved or have lost, makes me feel so peaceful.

Looking in from outside, by me

It makes me feel safe to know their love is around me. In the walls. In the streets and footpaths around here, their ghosts linger.

My parents house next door, a pic from 20 or so years ago.

The house I live in now, is very old and nice. The walls are peeling and damaged, the floors slope in all directions. I think if you put a bottle of wine on it’s side on the floor, it would probably end up on the other side of the house.

My partner and I in our bedroom. From a few years ago. Taken by eachother.

But so many people have lived here, so many people have visited, and so much has happened.

My great aunt phoebe, and myself. Her planting a tree, and me standing on a tree stump. Both in the same spot of my garden, but things have changed a lot in 22 years.

It feels nice to see where they have left their place. In scratches and holes in the wall. In peeling paint.

Night time in our house. After my friend came over to do her makeup. Cracks in the bathroom walls. Bike drawing by my friend Lanaayo. Pics by me.

I will miss living in this home. I will miss walking around these streets. I guess I too will be a ghost now.

Self portraits in my bathroom a few years ago.

But that’s okay.

The house I live in now is very beautiful. So much love is in it. My sister’s used to live here. And now I have too.

Our room. By me.

Thank u for reading this sentimental soppy post! I have a million more nostalgic photos so I’m just gonna plonk some of em. Love ya.
